AVIRT (Active Violence Immediate Response Training) is an online safety course designed to help individuals understand how to recognize, respond to, and survive an active violence incident.
Developed by HSI with guidance from law enforcement, military, and medical professionals, this course introduces practical response principles for active violence emergencies. Participants learn about situational awareness, recognizing potential threats, making rapid decisions during an emergency, and response options that may help protect themselves and others.
The course also addresses what to expect when law enforcement arrives and introduces principles for responding to life-threatening injuries until professional emergency responders can take over.
No in-person skills evaluation is required for this course. It is presented as online-only and distributed as a blended course. Upon successful completion of the online course, a Certificate of Online Training will be issued.
